P Diddy, also known as Sean John Combs, has been in the music industry for over 30 years. Starting his career back in 1988, and then later climbing the way to fame by starting “Bad Boy Entertainment” where he later produced “Ready to Die” which was the Notorious B.I.G.’s first studio album. Biggie wasn’t the only big name he worked with; he also worked with artists like Mariah Carey and Usher. Later on, he won three Grammy awards.
He went to college in Washington, D.C., but left to intern with Uptown Records. In just one year, he moved from an intern to vice president. In 1993, he was fired and switched all his energy to focus on his label.
From being fired to present day, he has been charged with crimes like harassment and illegal gun possession. His most discussed charges amongst the public are sexual misconduct, sex trafficking, rape, sexual harassment, and the list goes on. Diddy was known for his “white parties” and was compared to the novel, The Great Gatsby, because of their exclusivity. Only A-list celebrities were being invited. Despite this, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Diddy said that his parties were for “breaking down racial barriers, [and] breaking down generation barriers.” He would talk about how non-rich people and rich people could be seen talking to each other at these parties. In 2001, the Independent quoted him saying, “Have I read The Great Gatsby? I am the Great Gatsby!”
According to Slate, the dark side of Diddy was always known but started to appear about a decade ago when his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against him for rape and assault in November of 2023. Weeks after she came forward an immense amount of women filed lawsuits for assault, drugging, trafficking, and abuse. Former producer “Lil Rod” filed a civil lawsuit against him. In March of 2024, Diddy’s two houses in Miami and L.A. were raided due to his sex trafficking investigation. In May there was evidence found of him abusing his ex-girlfriend Ventura back in 2016, which was released by CNN. During all of these events, he pleaded not guilty. Throughout this past summer, more people filed civil lawsuits, and all types of industries cut ties with him. This led up to his arrest in Manhattan on Sept. 16 with a 14-page indictment that included sex trafficking, racketeering, transportation with purpose of prostitution, etc. When his houses were raided, over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube were found. These are said to be related to the allegations of his “freak off” parties. These parties are one of the main factors in his case with women and sex workers who were supplied with alcohol and drugs and were often filmed, sometimes without consent. These parties would last for days on end.
The information about his scandal is building day by day and he is in tons of legal trouble still. With more that is exposed, not only him, but other celebrities could find themselves in legal trouble too.
