Soccer seniors season almost over

By: Alex Coleman [Ads Editor] @AlexColeman831

On the field, the boys soccer team is focused on one thing, winning. They’re focused on doing their best in scoring as many goals as they can, and defending the other team from scoring at all. Although the team is focused on being a cohesive unit, some of the players minds are elsewhere. It’s senior night at boys soccer, and Hunter Gillaspie, senior, is thinking about how this is one of his last games.

After spending all four years of his high school out on the field, Hunter has grown very attached to his team. “It’s sad to think about, this is probably one of my last competitive soccer games since I probably won’t play in college,” said Gillaspie. With that in mind, he’s hoping they can pull in for a win against West Delaware.

As a defense player, Hunter is on the field quite a bit; he knows all about the strong points and struggles of his team. “Senior leadership is a big advantage, and we usually play really well on defense,” Gillaspie explained, “and we struggle a lot with getting the ball out wide, using the entire field, talking to each other, and staying positive when things start to look bad.”

With the idea of his last game just around the corner, Hunter is trying to grasp to what he has left. “It’s weird to think that we’re almost finished, it seems like it was just my freshman year, but right in front of me,” said Gillaspie. Along with the end of sports seasons, the seniors last day is right around the corner. ‘Soon’ is here, and by the end of the week the seniors will be on to the next stage of their lives.
