As the volleyball team enters the gym the fans cheer with excitement, clapping and shouting. The home team’s parents cheer for their daughters while the other team’s parents cheer for theirs. The students fill the stands with enthusiasm and there is one student that attends every game, Riley Peters, junior.
Peters has attended every home game and three away games of the 2013 volleyball season. He plans to attend another game tonight in Tipton as the girls fight for a spot in state. “It’s a fun sport to watch and it’s harder than it looks” said Peters.
Peters speaks from experience because he doesn’t only enjoy watching the sport, but he also likes to play. During the summer Peters plays for Volley’s, the sand volleyball league on Blairs Ferry Road.
Though Peters is one of Marion’s biggest fans he didn’t receive a superfan shirt, not even from his favorite player, Kaela Halvorson, sophomore.
During the last season Peters has basically become a part of the team. He plans on making it official by managing the team next year. But for now he is going to continue to support the team on the journey to state.
