Summer jobs

By: Abi Washburn, Staff Writer

With summer just around the corner many students are thinking about getting a summer job. Getting a summer job is always a good idea, it keeps kids out of trouble while they are also making some money.

Money is something teens always seem to be short on and what better way to make it than by getting a job. Lawn care, grocery store worker, camp counselor, umpire, life guard, movie theatre attendant, fast food employee, and clothing store workers are some good summer job ideas. Each one of these jobs has it’s advantages and disadvantages and some jobs are harder than others but the biggest advantage for having a job is the money.

Not every job is meant for everyone so be careful to pick the one that you think will be the most fun for you personally. Certain jobs are more fun for some people than others and certain people are better at doing certain things. When picking a job be sure to think of the special qualities you may have that someone else may not have and make sure to use these skills to your advantage.

Summer is all about getting a break from school and having fun so try to pick a job that you think you’ll have the most fun at. The more fun you are having at the job the less boring and monotonous it will seem. All in all having a job in the summer can cut into some of the more “fun” things you’d rather be doing but it will be well worth it in the end.
