So far this spring, many events have taken place such as prom, tennis matches, soccer games, track meets, and to Nicole Matheny, the most important is golf meets. “It’s relaxing and I enjoy the game.”

To some golf may just be boring and not fun, but that’s just a cliché. There is time to relax and just whack a ball, other times you can just enjoy the gorgeous wheather outside. Nicole says, “I really enjoy meeting the other girls from schools.”

Besides meeting the girls from the other schools, you get to spend time with your teammates, and for playing for 3 years like Nicole, bonds can become really close. “If I didn’t have the teammates that I do, I probably wouldn’t continue with the sport.” Being with your friends is obviously the most fun thing about a sport, and having as close as team as the girls golf team does, it must be amazing. “I like all the girls on the team, their really funny, plus they make it 20 times for fun,” she smiles, “we have a really good time no matter what.”

Not only do her teammates help her through though, she has many influences from her family. “My brother influenced me to play,” she adds, “I also get a lot of my passion from Alicia Livingston, she helps me a lot.”

Friends, family, and fun times are just 3 of the things that help Nicole get through golf, and to her it’s the best things. She also encourages many to go out, so if you’re looking for a relaxing sport and want to make new friends, golf is the sport for you. “Go Martin!”
