As 2018 comes to a close most students look forward to spending time with their family during the holiday seasons. But some may be looking forward to the new year because of the highly anticipated movies that are going to be released in 2019.
Out of a convenience poll 32% of the people said that the most anticipated film of 2019 is The Lion King. The original Lion King came out in 1994 and the movie that is going to come out next summer is going to be a remake of the original version.
“I really only heard of The Lion King coming out next year, but besides that the original Lion King movie was like my entire childhood so I’m really excited to see it,” Megan Vannatta, senior, said.
Avengers: Endgame is the fourth installment of the Avengers series. 28% said they were excited to see it, looking on how the previous movie ended some could see why it is so anticipated.
Toy Story was a huge influence on most of the students childhoods, the last installment of Toy Story came out in 2010 and almost everyone finished the movie with an empty box of tissues. Out of the poll 20% reported they were excited to see the movie.
Frozen 2 comes comes in fourth with 10%, Dumbo in fifth with 8% and then Star Wars Ep. IX with a 2%.
The majority of movies being released next year are either remakes or are the next installments to movies already released, some last year and others eight years ago. Most of the students when asked about the movies coming out next year were shocked to hear that some of their favorite childhood movies were either being remade or were getting another movie.
There are several other sequels and remakes coming out next year but these movies seemed to get students most excited.
