Rainy days, flowers, and the unpredictable weather are all things that are part of the much anticipated season called spring. During the spring season outdoor sports are beginning and the weather is somewhere between a cold winter day and a hot summer day. The athletics that take place during this time are outdoors so the weather can cause some major complications.
The golf team knows how hard it can be to spend many hours golfing on rainy days. Anna Martinson, sophomore, has been part of the team since she came to the high school last year so she has experienced these long rough days, “I really don’t like 18 hole meets because they last all day long and the weather can be really crappy.” Though she doesn’t look forward to the wet meets, Martinson is enjoying the times with the rest of the team, “It’s like a family. Not many people go out for golf so you become really good friends,” said Martinson. She is excited to have a fun season with the friends she meets along the way.
Yesterday was their first meet and they have another meet today against CPU. Martinson has high hopes for the team, but she also knows that there will be off days, “I’m excited for the meet today, we didn’t do very good yesterday and I’m hoping we do better,” Martinson said. Golf is a learning experience for many on the team, Martinson believes the others will do their best and the team will have a fun and successful season.
