Prom drama

By: Haley Shaffer [Co-Executive Newspaper editor] @shafferdaffer

Prom is right around the corner, and with all the excitement comes stress too. The dance isn’t the only thing to worry about. There’s dresses, tuxedos, dinner, and pictures. With all of these things to plan, students can easily become stressed out about prom, but is it worth it?

The things students worry about, while necessary, don’t require as much stress as students give it. Students freak out about where to eat dinner at, meanwhile there’s a ton of choices of restaurants between Marion, Cedar Rapids, and even Iowa City. And with Marion’s prom being so early, students don’t have to worry about other schools.

While prom seems to be all about everything before the actual dance, the dress is probably the most important thing. Girls spend weeks stressing about the dress they will wear to prom. Where to get it, what color to get, how much do I have to spend, what style do it get. The list goes on. But an easy way to avoid stress about dresses, is to buy it early.

Prom is meant to be a fun night, that everyone will remember, not a night that everyone freaks out about. Students should stop stressing about every little thing, and just focus on having a memorable, fun night.
