Every week there is news of new drama floating about the halls at any high school. Friends in fights, couples getting together and breaking up, and crazy adventures of teens with their friends. Drama is inevitable, but some people can’t live without it, they breathe drama like it’s oxygen. Sally fought with her boyfriend Joe today because her and her best friend Ashley went to a party with other boys and Joe got mad, but later that week Sally and Ashley were fighting over who would get to date Joe in the first place. Though this is obviously made up, sometimes high school drama feels as elementary as this example to those on the outside.
Usually it is stereotype that girls are the gender most often addicted to drama like it’s crack, but the fact is boys get involved in drama just as much as anyone else. Regardless of the gender, people need to realize that drama isn’t an essential item needed for living. Why do people even think that drama is fun? It most often ends in tears, broken friendships and hurt feelings, so how is that thrilling for anyone involved? It is understandable that people who aren’t involved in it, and have just heard about the endless drama could enjoy it for a little bit. People you see every day fighting about the most juvenile things one minute then becoming best friends forever the next day just to fight about something seemingly just as stupid just to continue the nonstop cycle gives people something to talk about, but after awhile everyone tires of hearing that Sally and Joe broke up, subtweeted about each other and then started dating again.
People need to cool it on the fighting and gossip. Drama isn’t enjoyable for anyone involved, and at the end of the day it’s just annoying.
