Before the injury he would walk into the gym preparing himself for a long day of wrestling. He could smell the rubber of the mats, and see the other team huddled. He knew that day would be one to remember.
Zack Matthess, senior, was on the varsity wrestling team before he ended up injuring his elbow. “I was doing work then got hip-tossed and landed on my elbow,” said Matthess. This injury caused him to have to possibly sit out the rest of the season.
Matthess has wrestled for three years. “My favorite part is wrestling another person, not having teammates like football, and pinning people,” stated Matthess. But of course the worst part is getting hurt for him.
This is Matthess’ last year for him to wrestle at Marion High School. “It sucks because I had to sit out for a while, then I did a couple of matches and then got hurt,” he said. Even though it’s his last year he wont forget the memories that were made.
