One day every year we are told to remember those who have given their
lives to give us our freedom. But that is not all this one-day is
about. Memorial Day is not only to remember our fallen soldiers, but
also to give respect to those who are still fighting.
Many people say that this is the reason we have Memorial Day, to
remember those who have passed away. Even some news stations have said
Memorial Day is only to remember the fallen. But that is like saying
you have to lose your life in order to gain the respect that these
soldiers greatly deserve. Soldiers, living and passed, have earned to
be given our support and respect.
Without these brave men and women we would not be living in the
America we are living in today. We need to support each and every
soldier that has even joined the armed forces. It takes immense
bravery and courage to join something knowing that your life is on the
line and in doing so they gain our respect and support. Memorial day
is not only for remebering the perished but also for recognizing and
thanking the survivors and active duty men and women.
