The week before homecoming, or “Homecoming Week”, is an exciting time for students. They are preparing for the game on Friday, and planning out their night on Saturday for the dance. The days making up Homecoming Week consist of five days where the students get to wear costumes and outfits that show off their school spirit. This year Homecoming Week’s days are as follows: Pajama Day, Super Hero Day, Class Color Day (freshmans wear brown, sophomores wear blue, juniors wear purple, and seniors wear tie dye), Throwback Thursday, and like every homecoming week at Marion, Red and Gold Day on the day of the game.

This year’s pick of the Homecoming Week’s days are causing some controversy. Many students, including

, junior, voted to have Toga Day, but it was turned down. Toga day is where people and their friends dress up in matching group costumes. A lot of students here at Marion had looked forward to wearing a fun costume with their friends and see what others wore as well; since it got shut down, many of them are disappointed. “I’m a little salty because it was brought upon me then shut down. I don’t like that,” stated Bolsinger. She isn’t the only one who is upset about not having Toga Day during 2014’s Homecoming Week.

The reason for turning it down is unknown to many students and a lot of them wish to know why it wasn’t allowed. “I don’t know why they would turn it down. I don’t see what people would dress like that would be so bad,” Bolsinger said. That is a popular question between the students, why was toga day not allowed in the halls of MHS?
