Peer pressure. Something that we have all been talked to about since we were young. But how much good does talking to students actually do?
Brian Kinney, junior, is opinionated on the subject. “I think it’s common in any high school setting where people are trying to find themselves.” Truly, many teens are trying to find themselves, and sometimes they decide to make bad choices and suck other people in with those choices.
As much as our school tries to help us, Brian doesn’t really think there is much the school can do. “As much as it would be nice if people would seek help, it’s something that you have to overcome yourself. That’s how you are able to grow and mature,” he said.
But does drinking and doing drugs even have a bad connotation with students anymore? “I think on the surface it’s frowned upon, but it could have always been that way,” he stated. It seems that abusing those things is common at any high school, and always has been.
Even though it’s been said many times, it’s in a persons best interests to just say no drugs and other things. If you do say yes, and do those things, be prepared for the consequences.
