Many people have been involved in the Jeffrey Epstein cases over the past 20 years. Prominent names stick out, as celebrities have been named in the release of over 30,000 files. The question remains: who is Jeffrey Epstein?
His story began when he was 23 years old, and an investment broker for billionaires. At this time, the agenda was to build ties with very wealthy people, ultimately forming strong connections with rich families. In 2005, he was accused of paying a 14-year-old girl for a “massage.” After that, many other girls who shared similar experiences came forward. In 2006, he was indicted in Palm Beach, Florida. A couple of years later, he accepted a plea deal resulting in 18 months in a minimum-security facility, he was required to pay monetary damages to known victims, and become a registered sex offender. During his time, he was allowed to leave for 12 hours a day to work in a foundation he created. After not even 13 months of jail time, he was released. His name remained relatively quiet within the news until around 2017, when Julie K. Brown, an investigative reporter for the Miami Herald, filed a motion to unseal court records. The media broke out with publicity, wanting to know what this man was doing, who was involved, and what secrets the countless other documents held. In 2019, he was arrested again, this time by Federal Agents in New York City, on sex trafficking charges. Thereafter, he was found dead in his cell. Epstein’s death sparked lots of controversy. Reports say it was death by suicide; however, others say he was murdered, or even faked his death and is still alive today.
That being said, there is more to the story than Epstein himself; he had a very important accomplice. Her name is Ghislaine Maxwell. She was Epstein’s former girlfriend, but became a close colleague and partner in the sex trafficking that occurred on Epstein’s island, located on Little St. James in the Virgin Islands. She would bring Epstein underage women and schedule them for “massages” with Epstein. The massages weren’t the only disgusting things happening on that island. There were lavish parties thrown, where politicians, wealthy individuals, Epstein’s friends, and even young women were invited. At these parties, the young women at his estate were subjected to sexual assault. As files came out, the public was able to see some celebrities who visited the island, and emails sent between Epstein and his friends. Some recognizable names that came up in these files consisted of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Cameron Diaz, Mick Jagger, and more. It is important to note that not all people mentioned in the files were a part of the assault happening on the island, as these were rich parties that others wanted to be invited to. Some of the people on the lists were actually victims.
Moreover, on Epstein’s 50th birthday, he was given a book with letters and pictures from friends. This book included a table of contents with categories having pages dedicated to children. This suggests that everyone who knew Epstein knew he was a monster. This birthday book includes graphic pictures and drawings of young women. Most names that came up in the files deny ever being at the island or knowing about Epstein’s schemes; however, they have a page in this birthday book.
I don’t believe that people who attended the parties and acquired relationships with Epstein did not know the person he was. He used women as his personal playground, and everyone involved knew. Those who deny it just want to avoid bad publicity. I say to those involved: don’t do horrendous acts, if a jail cell doesn’t sound appealing. Women are not objects, nor are they subject to mistreatment. The victims involved are survivors; they deserve to have their stories told, and they deserve justice. Now, the survivors ask the media to take action and call Congress members to ask for the release of the rest of the files. The public’s voices matter; we cannot all be ignored. Dear Epstein and friends, your time is up.
