Friends Forever
As this time comes around, all we have heard over the past couple of months are the same questions over and over by people we don’t even know. As we try to have awkward conversations with our mother’s sixth cousin, we answer the same questions: “Where are you going to college again?” and “Are you ready to graduate?” I always answer with my fake smile, saying, “Yes, I am ready for school to be done,” but what if I’m not ready to leave my best friends and all of the memories?
Marion Independent School District is where I met the people I will forever cherish. People have told me that your high school friends are not the people who will be at your wedding party, and college is where your true friends lie. Well, I am here to tell you that in my case, that is not accurate. My high school friends all hold a special place in my heart, and there is no way I will ever forget them. Now, having gotten this far, I have talked about a bunch of random people that no one knows. Which leads me to my main part of this story, and how they have made me who I am, my friends.
Katelyn Allison has taught me the most to stick up for myself and not let anyone walk all over me. She is a strong woman who will thrive in her future career. She is the reason why I take opportunities when I see them and continue to work hard for my dreams. Katelyn Allison will always be a part of my life.
Quinn Kinzenbaw has opened my eyes, or as she calls it, “put me on things”. Not only has she shown me many restaurants, shows, music, and helpful tips, but also how to enjoy every moment in our lives. She is one of the kindest people I know, and has always been there for me (even when I am so wrong). Quinn Kinzenbaw will always be a part of my life.
Emma Greenwalt has shown me that it’s okay to have moments of struggle, but always find your way through. She has been my longest friend. From playing in the sandbox together to taking pictures at our senior honors night, she has always been there every step of the way. She continues to blow my mind with her accomplishments, and she has helped me grow into the woman I am today. Emma Greenwalt will always be a part of my life.
Claire Lantermans has shown me that everything is better with a laugh. She is one of the funniest people I have met. From her impersonations to her silly dad jokes, she has never failed to put a smile on my face. She continues to always include people and make everyone feel welcome in whatever is going on. She is known for her positive energy and the uplifting environment she brings. Claire Lantermans will always be a part of my life.
Marion Independent School District has brought me together with some of the coolest people in my life. There have been hundreds of people who have helped me shape the way I am. I am so grateful for the amazing people I have gotten to spend my time with over the past 12 years. Whether you are one of these people or not, you have helped me. I am so grateful to have so many people to call my friends. So, although high school may not have been the most fun activity for me to endure, I am forever thankful for the school that helped me find my best friends.
