Growing up, The Lion King was one of the most popular movies for all ages. From the creators of Walt Disney, the original Lion King was released on June 15, 1994. It was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff and featured songs composed by Elton John.
Simba begins life as an honored prince, the son of the powerful king, Mufasa. His happy childhood is quickly taken away when his evil uncle, Scar, murders Mufasa and drives him away from the kingdom. As Simba wanders the Savannah, he befriends Pumba the warthog and Timon the meerkat, who then lives a carefree jungle life. As he advances toward adulthood, he is visited by the spirit of his father, who orders him to defeat the wicked Scar and reclaim his rightful throne.
The box office received $1,586,753 within the first week of the movie being shown in theaters. A live action remake of The Lion King was released in July 2019. The film received many mixed reviews for its lack of originality, emotional expressiveness, and for being almost identical to the original 1994 film. However, it grossed over 1.6 billion worldwide, broke several box office records, and was nominated for many awards. Now, over 30 years later from the original Lion King, a prequel has been released.
Lebos M’s voice is synonymous with The Lion King. That is the first voice that one hears in the 1994 original film and the first one viewers will hear in the one that came out in Dec. With the Dec. 20 release date, Mufasa: The Lion King is shown in theaters, directed by Barry Jenkins. There were not a lot of details in the trailer or teasers. The trailer reveals Mufasa is a lonely and orphaned cub roaming the Savannahs. The film explores the early years of the eventual ruler of Pride Rock. He meets a friend named Taka (Scar in the 1994 film), heir to the royal bloodlines, who saves Mufasa and takes him into their kingdom. As the two boys travel the world to find their role in the circle of life, they face challenges and obstacles. Fighting together to protect one another from harm as they slowly transition from friends to enemies.
The film is photorealistically animated and is both a prequel and a sequel to the 2019 remake of the 1994 film, The Lion King. Mufasa’s origin story is explored parallel to the story of Simba’s daughter. Worldwide viewers seem excited about the release of the movie, especially those who grew up in the era of the original film.
