Coming into high school, I remember being excited and nervous, but a good kind of nervous. I remember my first year having to walk the halls in masks, to my last year having my truck and making my own decisions. I am thankful for the friends and teachers that I got to share laughs with, and in turn, it allowed me to enjoy my high school experience.
Within the history department, there are many interesting characters, but this is where I found some of the most enjoyable classes to be. The teachers there do a good job of being creative and unique, and it brings the best out in people.
In the math department, although it’s not my strong suit, I had a fun time struggling through it. There were days I did dread, however, the teachers always had a positive vibe that made it go by fast!
The science department left a world full of mysteries, some challenging and easy. I’ll always remember being able to fish in Field Biology, so I’m thankful for breaking the school boredom.
Next, the English department. I’ve spent most of my time here, attempting to bring stories to life in journalism. I will say that when I first joined, I was nervous, and later, around my early senior year, I realized how important it can be. I believe journalism is crucial for many career paths, and it’s important to have an understanding of what the fundamentals are. I have worked with many talented people who know way more about the field than I do. My teacher has been a huge inspiration, and without her, I would have never thought to challenge myself and take part in something beneficial for me. With that being said, I didn’t always have a good time in that class. Even though there were dramatic times, there were still many amazing memories I made.
High school still found its way to be enjoyable, and I’ll forever be thankful for that, but it’s time to move on to adulthood. I’ll be going to Iowa State University while being a part of the Iowa National Guard. With these changes, I’m very excited and glad I’ve had all the opportunities that have led me to this path. On a final note, I’d like to shout out the following teachers, as you’ve made my high school experience worth it! Trilk, Blech, Mundorf, Mitch, Hansen, Robinson, and VonBehren. I spent most of my high school around them. You all made it worth it, so thank you!
