As he stepped out of the car for the first day of school he was filled with emotions
of excitement and nervousness. He didn’t know what to expect. He had been to the high
school before for games and events, but never for school.
Hunter Gilaspie, a freshman, is enjoying his first few weeks at Marion. “It’s a lot
better than middle school,” exclaimed Hunter. He agrees that you get a lot of more
privileges in the high school than you would at the middle school.
Hunter isn’t involved in many activities yet, considering low opportunities for the
first few weeks. Although he is planning on joining soccer in the spring.
He doesn’t really have a favorite part of high school, but he says the scariest part
is the hallways being more full of people. “Having lunch with upperclassmen is kind of
scary too. I’m used to having lunch with only my grade.”
As the weeks go by, things become easier for Hunter and other freshman to adjust
to being in high school.
