Tonight, the night of June 4th, the varsity girls’ soccer team has an important game against Xavier. Starting at five o’clock the girls will rush Xavier’s field and play hard to try and win. If they win, the girls’ step closer and closer to reaching state. A freshman varsity player, Lauren Rausch, had a lot to say about her excitement towards the game tonight. She also informed me of the many goals she has for herself, as well as for her team. “I hope to stop everyone from scoring and dominate them,” Lauren smiled as she announced this. But as for her team goal, it was much more soothing. “Stay strong and do the best we can,” is what she would say to her team if their heads start to fall.
Many people have images in their heads on how they want the game tonight to go. Some images good, some images bad, and some very detailed. “I can see us going into PK shootout and Courtney Rogers shooting the winning PK,” Lauren says imaginatively.
All of the girls that are playing tonight are all different in how they prepare for games. Some relax, some exercise, some watch television, or even chill with friends. Even on the bus rides to the fields they’re about to play on girls will have different things going on in their heads. “I like go get focused and think through everything I’m supposed to do, and don’t let myself get too serious, but as I walk onto the field, I just think about getting the girl in front of me,” Lauren describes.
Tonight is going to be a fun intense night. No matter if we win or lose there are many things to look forward to. “If we win we’re going to Herman’s house and partying, but if we lose we’re done, and we’ll just start getting pumped up for next year.”
Lauren has a very positive out look on the game tonight, as well as the other players. It’s going to be an exciting, nail biting match, so everyone should be encouraged to go, and watch the MHS varsity girls soccer team fight for a chance at state.
