Senior Skip Day is a tradition at many high schools. It is a day when senior all skip school, together or apart. Senior Skip Day happened on Monday the 3rd this year. Many people have different opinions about how they feel about Senior Skip Day.
Mr. Wake, a teacher at Marion High School, has no senior classes, but does have a feeling about it. “I think it is a silly idea,” he replied, “I guess it is something that if they feel it is necessary that they do then they should accept the consequences.” Mr. Wake doesn’t feel it is necessary to skip school. In fact he didn’t do it his senior year because he didn’t feel it was worth the consequences.
Students and teachers have different ideas about this day. Maggie Murphy, a senior at Marion High School, feels it is okay under certain circumstances. “I think if you don’t have a hard class and if parents are okay with it, then it’s fine and okay, but if you have hard classes and activities that day, then should be at school,” she expresses. Even though she didn’t do Senior Skip Day, she feels it is okay to do so. “I had a soccer game that day and had Wikert’s class,” she replies. Wikert made it very clear that his students were expected to be in class that day.
Students and teachers have different ways to look at Senior Skip Day. Even though teachers don’t always approve of the day, it will happen no matter what. Many seniors will always try to do this tradition because of course it’s a tradition.
