Kenzie Redmond, freshman is going to be competing in the first girls track meet at Wartburg on Tuesday. Redmond will be anchoring the 4×400 relay and she will also be started the 4×800 relay and the meet is an only varsity meet, Kenzie is a little nervous. “I’m nervous, but then again I’m also excited to be able to work with this group of girls and coaches.” Redmond stated.
Being a freshman Redmond must get used to the changes from eighth grade level to high school level track. “Its definitely taken way more seriously and it’s way more intense” says Redmond. Redmond also has new coaches that she must get used to as well. “The coaches are really passionate and you can tell that they love what they are doing.” Redmond commented.
Even though she is just a freshman she has shown some amazing skills and has some great goals for not only the track meet but also the season. “At Wartburg I want to perform well and get a good time in all my events, and this season I want to keep improving my times, as I grow closer to all the girls.” Redmond said.
As the season progresses and time goes on Redmond will continue to improve and will grow closer to her team while having the time of her life competing and showing her talent.
