Recently just about every news outlet and social media is filled with rumors that the New England Patriots deflated footballs to help win the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The NFL is investigating into the allegations that the Patriots had 11 out of their 12 game balls under inflated by 2 pounds per square inch, giving an unfair advantage.
One thing most people don’t understand is how the game could be played out and then the problem be brought up. Wouldn’t somebody same something or notice anything? If someone was playing in such a big game and thought the other team wasn’t playing fairly, they would have brought it up a lot sooner. What good does it do now? Are the Colts wanting a rematch with standardized footballs?
Right now most of the blame is being put on the Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, which makes total sense since he’s the one who is control of the football most the time. So did he sneak back into the locker room, deflate the footballs, and then bring them back? I agree that most of his responses do sound a little suspicious. If it were me, I would be freaking out the entire game worrying about getting caught. But that’s coming from someone who has problems ding-dong ditching.
So whether you believe the Colts are crying wolf or the Patriots are a bunch of dirty cheaters, I think were all a little tired of hearing about it. It won’t change the outcome of the game. I’m sure all the players still got paid thousands of dollars even if the balls were deflated. But as we all know, cheaters never win and winners never cheat.
