Tonight is the opening night of this year’s school performance of Radium Girls. Austin Lanteri, senior, is an active member of the cast and has been throughout his high school years. He feels that tonight is going to be a great show. “I’m feeling confident. We’ve worked very hard. I have the utmost confidence in the cast and crew that we will put on an excellent show for the students and faculty of Marion High School.” Lanteri stated.
According to Lanteri, Radium Girls is based on a true story about a group of women workers in the 1920’s who painted dials with radium based paint. The ladies would lick the brushes to point them and ended up getting cancer and other issues due to this.
With all things, struggles are evident and Lanteri and his fellow cast and crew members have dealt with hardships throughout their practices. “A big struggle we have had is getting into character. A lot of our cast members are young and I, myself, had a hard time. We’re not used to a tragic comedy like this, being light hearted with a hint of realism.” Lanteri commented.
Lanteri states that he plays plant manager, later president of the radium corporation, Arthur Roeder and everyone should come support the growing drama department and see their hard-work and dedication come to life.
Radium Girls will be showing from tonight through Saturday every night at 7 PM. The doors open at 6:30. The cost for tickets is $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for students. So come catch a show sometime this week and support a talented group of students here at MHS.

Good job, Gage, making your feature related to the fall play that is being presented this weekend. Austin was rocking the purple on Thursday, wasn’t he?
