The Scarlet Spectrum marching band is hosting their first home invitational tomorrow, September 27th, at the Marion High School football field. This event takes place at 5:00 P.M. There are many other schools attending this event too: Springville, Center Point Urbana, Vinton Shellsburg, Keokuk, Maquoketa, Central Community, Linn-Mar, and many more resulting in 18 bands.
The marching band has had a great season so far, and they’re excited to be at their home field performing their show. The Marion High School band performs at 9:45. They are the last band performing and they plan to end the night with a splash.
There will be an awards ceremony at 10:15, right after the Scarlet Spectrum band performs. There will be concessions at the invitational and many volunteers eager to help.
The band was at a invitational last Saturday and won first place, best drum line, horn line, and drum majors! They hope to continue with this victory and possibly win even more awards this season. The band has been preparing this whole season. They practiced every Monday night following band camp in the Summer. They have been working very hard to make sure they represent Marion in the best way.
This year the band is performing Russian classical songs. The band loves the music they are performing and their dedication will lead them to a victorious season. The band’s hard work will help them at all of the competitions they go to this season, and even when they perform at halftime at the football games. They perform at the home football game tonight, and that will get them very prepared for the invitational Saturday.
