As the year draws to an end, many other ends follow. While most students are just excited for the summer to finally begin, other’s are being forced to say goodbye to all the people and extra curricular activities they have been involved in throughout high school. For juniors, sophomores, and freshman, the end of the year only means summer, but ends mark a permanent finish for seniors.
Jeremy Ellerby, senior, is involved in choir and band, which hosts its last concert tonight. For Ellerby, this means the end of a chapter. “I’ve been in band since 4th and 5th grade but I didn’t play my freshman or sophomore year and I did choir in 4th and 5th grade and the last three quarters of my senior year,” Ellerby said. Although he has taken breaks from each activity, he will still miss them when he graduates. “I will miss the social aspect of choir but I’ve been in band longer,” Ellerby commented. Thinking of his last concert ever, gets Ellerby emotional. “I’ll get emotional tonight because Tricia, Harper, and Madi are going to,” Ellerby said.
Being involved in activities in sports is something that Ellerby thinks is smart to do in high school. “I’ve made friendships stronger and made new friends,” Ellerby said. He encourages everyone to get involved throughout high school. “Only do stuff that your hearts in,” Ellerby commented.
As Ellerby’s senior year comes to a close and he prepares for his last concert, he reflects back on his time in choir and band and smiles, thinking of all the memories he has made.
