During Homecoming week there has always been the tradition of dressing in different themes throughout the week. Usually the days are pretty typical such as twin day and pajama day, but this year Marion is doing something a little different. The cheerleaders have decided to retire the old themes and bring new exciting themes into the week.
Gabrielle Fiala, junior, has had a big say in the themes of the days this year for homecoming week. “Every year we have the same days, and it gets boring. I saw what the other schools were doing on Twitter and Instagram, they had exciting days and their participation levels were much higher,” Fiala says. This year the days will be:
Monday: “M” day (dress up as something that starts with a M)
Tuesday: Grandparents day
Wednesday: America day
Thursday: Disney character day
Friday: Red and gold day
For Fiala Disney character day and Grandparents day are her favorites, but one that most worries her is America day. “I think some people could veer from what America day really is suppose to be about. We don’t want people disrespecting our country,” she stated. These weekdays should be fun for everyone.
Having new themes for the days is an exciting change for homecoming week. Gabrielle and the rest of the cheerleading team are hoping that everyone enjoys them as much as they will.
