The final buzzer rang and they crowd went wild. The varsity boys basketball team had one the game. This wasn’t just any normal game, if was the first round of the playoffs that they won. Brenden Landuyt, senior, is one of the many amazing players on the team. Last night the team won against Center Point Urbana. The final score was 51-43. There record from the whole season is 11-11. “It was very exciting,” stated Brenden. Brenden felt excited last night after they won the game and so did all the Marion fans.
Landuyt and many of the other players don’t want the season to end. Since it is now the playoffs once the team loses they are finished until next year. “I feel under pressure because if I lose then the whole season is over,” said Brenden. The boys are still practicing every day after school from 3pm to 5 pm. Brenden doesn’t want the season to end along with many other players. “Maybe I am not really sure,” said Brenden. He is not sure if they will make it to state or not.
If anyone wants to see the next round of the playoffs that the basketball team plays in it is on Thursday at Kennedy against Anamosa at 7pm.
