Her students, including Mitch, are building small versions of amusement park rides. Mitch informs that, “The Super Spinner is my group’s ride.” He explains that the ride will start at the top and with gravity it will spin down. Mitch really knows his stuff, and this project seems to be reinforcing the knowledge.
Although it counts as learning, it doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. “Yeah I’m having fun, I have a great group to work with,” he said looking at Nick, who seems to be part of the reason why he enjoys his group. The Super Spinner seems to becoming along quite nicely, they’ve been working on it for about a week.
Other rides in the room range from roller coasters to swings. The class is filled with odds and ends, and those odds and ends can get frustrating. “Yes, [it’s frustrating] when you don’t know how to build something,” Mitch said after pondering his answer. Other classmates also informed that they don’t like when they cannot find the piece they are looking for.
All in all there are a few inconveniences here and there, but Mitch and his classmates seem to enjoy it regardless. The room is filled with laughter, chatter, and a few groans when Ms. Duning announces that it is time to clean up.
